Cluj-Napoca/ Romania, 27 July 2016 - Canadian Eldorado Gold, the project owner intending to extract the 70 tonnes of gold at Certej using cyanide, continues with site its management works, despite a recent court sentence forbidding this.
<em>22 October 2015</em> – Mining Watch Romania Network launches the media project "Resource Grabbers" <a href="http://miningwatch.ro/harti/certej.html" target="_blank">with a first interactive map on resource grabbing at Certej by the mining company Eldorado Gold</a> (TSX:ELD) through its subsidiaries Deva Gold SA and European Goldfields SRL.
<em>Bucharest, 21 October 2015</em> – Bucharest Court of Appeal filed yesterday a request from SC Roşia Montană Gold Corporation SA<a href="#_ftn1" name="_ftnref1"></a>, whereby the latter waives the trial of the case<a href="#_ftn2" name="_ftnref2"><sup><sup></sup></sup></a> brought last year against the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the National Institute for Heritage. By that action RMGC requested the court to cancel the National List of Historical Monuments of 2010<a href="#_ftn3" name="_ftnref3"><sup><sup></sup></sup></a>, namely positions 141, 142 and 146 of the list which classify the mining galleries of Carnic and Orlea Massifs in Roşia Montană as historical monuments of national and universal value (class A). The Bucharest Court of Appeal cannot acknowledge the waiver of trial by the RMGC claimant without the explicit or tacit agreement of the defendants, and these aspects will be settled at the next hearing. The associations Centrul Independent pentru Dezvoltarea Resurselor de Mediu (Independent Centre for the Development of Environmental Resources), Alburnus Maior and Salvaţi Bucureştiul (Save Bucharest) have the capacity of interveners in the case.

The guest from El Salvador will visit Romania to discuss about the way how mining companies threaten democratic states by mechanisms such as ISDS and how they try to influence the decisions on mining project approval.
